CRRA Ranch Roping Novice Class - Ontario

CRRA Novice Ranch Roping Class Sunday, November 16, 2025 in the afternoon
NOTE: This is the second CRRA Ranch Roping Novice Class of the 2025-2026 season. Everyone who participates in the class must purchase a 2026 CRRA membership PRIOR to attending the roping.

As it is the beginning of our new year you will be required to purchase Canadian Ranch Roping Membership
CRRA 2026 individual membership is $35 (as per our October 2024 AGM)
Family membership is $35 each for the first two family members and $5.00 for each additional individual family member. Additional family members are persons who reside in the same household and are a minor in the year the membership is being taken out. Ex. the cost of membership for two parents and one child will amount to $75.00

NOTE: For those that have a 2025 CRRA MEMBERSHIP - a waiver is not required to be signed by those purchasing a 2026 CRRA membership at the October roping as it is for our CLUB Insurance from Acera Insurance. This waiver expires December 31, 2025. Those attending this roping will receive an email in January with a 2026 waiver attached to be signed and returned to canadianranchroping@gmail.com as soon as possible.
If you were NOT a member in 2025 you will need to complete a 2025 waiver which will expire Dec 31, 2025
CRRA Club insurance requires that all participants hold a membership to the provincial equine association of the province they live in - Sask Horse Federation, AB Equine Federation, Ontario Equestrian Federation and Horse Council BC etc.
If you do not have a 2025 SHF (or provincial equivalent) individual membership please purchase online PRIOR to arriving at the roping.
NOTE: if you already have your 2025 SHF(or provincial equivalent) membership you do not need to purchase one until it expires December 31, 2025. You should receive an email from the federation of your province sometime in December about renewing your membership.

The Canadian Ranch Roping Association will be holding their ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING on Saturday October 25 after the roping is finished and horses put away.
It will be held at the Moose Jaw Exhibition Grounds in the Corral Room in the Golden Mile Arena.
If you have a motion that you would like to put forward please let Trevor know as soon as possible prior to the AGM by October 19
You must be a current member and in attendance to vote. Memberships can be purchased upon registration Saturday, October 25 roping OR download the membership and waivers from the CRRA website www.canadianranchroping.ca or from Facebook under files.

ENTRY INFORMATION
Entry forms have been emailed to all current 2025 members of the CRRA.
Entry form can also be found on Facebook under “files” and www.canadianranchroping.ca in the footer and under “schedule – 2025 CRRA Finals”
Etransfer your fees and email your entry forms to Canadianranchroping@gmail.com Etransfer must be sent same time as entry form. You will receive a confirmation of receipt email within 24 hours.
If needed you can mail your entry form and cheque send to CRRA 25 McNab Cres, Regina, Sask. S4S 4A9. Cheque can be made payable to CRRA.
DEADLINE for entry form is Monday, September 1, 2024. Late entries will not be accepted.
It will be an All Draw format and you will need to qualify by participating in four ropings in the 2025 season. For example, if you attended two 2 day ropings and participated in both days of each weekend roping that would be your four ropings as each day is considered a separate roping. If you attended one weekend roping and 2 other ropings during the 2025 season that would be your four ropings. If you are not sure how many ropings you have attended please send an email to canadianranchroping@gmail.com
Draw Ins - if you are interested in being eligible for a draw in, in case of injury etc. there is an option on the entry form to complete. Fees will apply if chosen. (Please note you will be chosen by a random draw of those who have asked to be eligible)
Arena fee $20 – new this year $20 per roper
Stalls are $20 per horse per night on the grounds. No trailer tie. Shavings are NOT supplied.
Please clean out your stall before leaving.
Winners Round Event will be directly after Round #2 on Saturday in the Golden Mile Arena.
The 2025 Year End Awards will be presented right after the Winners Round Event.
There will be a KIDS dummy roping during the Finals Saturday afternoon after the day’s roping is finished – after the presentation of the 2025 Year End Awards. Please enter your children in advance on your entry form so we have appropriate prizes. Age categories are 0 to 6 and 7 to 12.
Supper on Saturday – the concession will be open for those that wish to order off the menu Saturday evening. There is no formal supper this year.
PLEASE NOTE – SUNDAY - Open group will rope in the morning starting 9:AM. Novice will rope after lunch.

This is an excellent group of instructors for you to learn from. They have many years of working with horses, stock, pasture and are all skillful ropers.
August 8 to August 10, 2025
August 8 Friday start time is 1 pm
August 9 & 19 Saturday and Sunday from 9 to 5 pm.
In this 2 1/2 day clinic, you will learn to prepare your horse and yourself for ranch duties, cattle handling and ranch roping which are required to be an effective ranch hand on your own land or working for others. Included in the clinic will be reviewing your horsemanship skills, safety issues when working with cattle and learning practical loops and a few fancy loops for a ranch roping competition! In the evenings there will be dummy roping for extra practise.
All levels of experience are welcome!

or type - “Bar BW Ranch” into google maps, the roping will be held across the road to the north. The driveway to the roping is just west of Bar BW Ranch.
Turn North off Highway 12 onto Range Road 3063. DO NOT take the pavement going NE, take the grid North. Travel 3 miles North, take the curve and it is the yard on the North side of the road. There will be signage. If coming from the east on Highway 312, turn onto Township Road 430, before the curve. Travel 7.5 miles West. Yard is on the North with a long driveway and signage for the event.
Parking - no electricity available for trailer parking, but there is an abundance of room North and Northwest of the arena.
Bring your water pails as there will be a large tank of good water for the cattle and horse. Limited pens available for horses at $15 per pen. Let Bryce know if you would like to book one. First come, first served.
Port a potty on site.
Food - There will be a concession on site. Burgers, taco in a bag, drinks..

Public washrooms are near the arena.
Camping/stabling: Oro Lake Park has limited services with no water or sewage disposal. Camping fee is $20 to $30 according to their website.
At the arena there is a large area to camp where you can keep your horses. The park only has a few stalls/pens so if you have panels for your horses to pen off by your trailer that would be best. You can also turn out your horses with the cattle in the evening if you wish.
Bring your water pails as there will be a large tank of good water for the cattle and horses.
You can also contact Corey about horse boarding at his place about 8 kms away if you have no other means of stalling your horse(s). If you need to do this contact Cory at least a week prior to the event.
Directions: Oro Lake Park can be reached by Oro Lake Grid Road E of Hwy 624.

This is an excellent group of instructors for you to learn from. They have many years of working with horses, stock, pasture and are all skillful ropers.

June 7 & 8 Saturday and Sunday from 9 to 5 pm.
In this 2 1/2 day clinic, you will learn to prepare your horse and yourself for ranch duties, cattle handling and ranch roping which are required to be an effective ranch hand on your own land or working for others. Included in the clinic will be reviewing your horsemanship skills, safety issues when working with cattle and learning practical loops and a few fancy loops for a ranch roping competition! In the evenings there will be dummy roping for extra practise.
All levels of experience are welcome!

The CRRA Novice Ranch Roping Class will be following CRRA rules and regulations and judged accordingly. All participants in this class must be CRRA members.

If you have not attended a CRRA Novice Ranch Roping class in 2024 you will need to renew or purchase an Ontario equine provincial membership ONLINE PRIOR to the roping. 2024 provincial memberships expire Dec 31, 2024.
The Canadian Ranch Roping Association will be holding their ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING on Saturday October 19 a half hour after the Saturday roping is finished. (estimated time 4:30/5:00 pm it all depends on the number of participants in the roping)
It will be held at the Moose Jaw Exhibition Grounds in the Corral Room in the Golden Mile Arena.

NOTE: For those current 2024 CRRA members - a waiver is not required to be signed by those purchasing a 2025 CRRA membership at the October roping as it is for our CLUB Insurance from Acera Insurance. The current 2024 waiver expires December 31, 2024. Those attending this roping will receive an email in January with a waiver attached to be signed and returned to canadianranchroping@gmail.com as soon as possible.
For anyone purchasing a 2025 CRRA membership who was not a member in 2024 must sign a waiver.
CRRA Club insurance requires that all participants hold a membership to the provincial equine association of the province they live in - Sask Horse Federation, AB Equine Federation, Ontario Equestrian Federation and Horse Council BC etc.
If you do not have a 2024 SHF (or provincial equivalent) individual membership please purchase online PRIOR to arriving at the roping.
NOTE: if you already have your 2024 SHF(or provincial equivalent) membership you do not need to purchase one until it expires December 31, 2024. You should receive an email from the federation of your province sometime in December.

Saturday roping begins at 9:00 AM. Please check in at the registration area when you arrive on Friday. Your supper tickets and programs will be available on Friday for pick up.
It will be an All Draw format and you will need to qualify by participating in two ropings in the 2024 season. For example, if you attended a 2 day roping and participate in both days that would be your two ropings as each day is considered a separate roping. If you attended one day of a two-day roping at two different times that would be your two ropings
Stalls are $20 per horse per night on the grounds. No trailer tie. Shavings are NOT supplied.
Please clean out your stall before leaving.
There will be a supper Saturday night cost is $27 per adult, $12 for children 12 years and younger.
Draw Ins - if you are interested in being eligible for a draw in, in case of injury etc there is an option on the entry form to complete. Fees will apply if chosen. (Please note you will be chosen by a random draw of those who have asked to be eligible)
There will be a KIDS dummy roping during the Finals Saturday afternoon after the day’s roping is finished. Please enter your children in advance on your entry form so we have appropriate prizes. Age categories are 0 to 6 and 7 to 12.

The Ontario Ranch Roping Association will be holding a roping Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Cambridge, Ontario hosted by Samantha McFayden. There will be a CRRA Novice Ranch Roping Class at this event. During the CRRA Novice Ranch Roping Class CRRA rules and regulations will be used and judged accordingly. All participants in this class must be CRRA members.
This is the third time the CRRA Novice Ranch Roping class will be presented at an Ontario Ranch Roping Association roping.
The CRRA is delighted to be assisting the ORRA in encouraging our style of ranch roping.
